This week, we are again joined by Jordan Paley to discuss the most maligned type of cocktail - the dreaded Blue Drink. How did these drinks come into vogue? Why were they blue in the first place? And is there any salvaging the reputation of blue drinks? We attempt to answer all these questions and more on this episode!
Blue Okinawan:
1 oz. Kiyomi White Rum
1/2 oz. Locals Only Vodka
1 1/2 oz. Murai Family Nigori Genshu Sake
3/4 oz. Vedrenne Blue Curaçao
2 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice, and shake vigorously until well chilled. Pour into a highball glass half filled with fresh crushed ice, and garnish with a pineapple wedge and several pineapple leaves.
Blue Dahlia:
2 oz. Sweet Gwendoline Gin
1/3 oz. Pavan Liqueur
1/4 oz. Tempus Fugit Creme de Violette
1 1/4 oz. Salers Gentiane Aperitif
1/2 oz. Vedrenne Blue Curaçao

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake until well chilled. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an expressed lemon peel, and serve.
