Gin, Gastronomy, and Gintonicas

Gin, Gastronomy, and Gintonicas

This week, we are joined by two guests - Diana (@misspixie93) and Jenz (@j3nzie), who is stepping in for Vesta as she is on vacation this week! Together, we discuss the complicated history of Spanish gins, and discuss what their ongoing gin craze might mean for the rest of the world.

Cocktails discussed:

Fortified Gintonica

2 oz. Mahón Gin

1/4 oz. White Port

1/2. oz. lime juice

4 oz. Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water

Combine all ingredients other than the tonic water in a large red wine glass or goblet over ice. Stir to combine, and top with the tonic. Gently stir again, and garnish with two line wheels, and a lime wedge on the edge of the glass.

Spanish Millionaire

1 1/2 oz. Airem Gin

3/4 oz. Zoco Pacharán Navarre

3/4 oz. Licor 43

1 oz. fresh lime juice

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice, and shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled coupe glass, and garnish with a lime wedge.
