This week we take a look at genever, the progenitor of gin as we know it. We're joined by our wonderful producer Jenz (@j3nzie) to see if genever hits the sweet spot between her gin loving palate, and Vesta's whisky leaning tastes. Either way, we'll talk about some of the fascinating history behind this spirit!
Cocktails discussed:
John Collins
2 oz. Bols 100% Malt Genever
3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz. Boomsma Frisian Beerenburger Bitters
1 spoonful of powdered sugar
Club Soda
Fill a highball glass with ice. Build the first three ingredients in the glass, stir, and top with the club soda. Sprinkle the sugar over the top of the drink, stir to make the drink fizz, and garnish with a lemon twist.
Clusius
1 1/2 oz. Geneva Gin
1/2 oz. Combier Kúmmel
3/4 oz. Boomsma Cloosterbitter
2 dashes Angostura bitters
